SHOPPING
Old Town Eureka has a history as a favorite area for fishermen and loggers in days gone by. You'll find shops and restaurants featuring hardwood floors, Victorian architecture, redwood framing and railings, and turn of the century ambiance. Old Town has more than 20 square blocks and alleys to explore, featuring 25 - 30 specialty shops, numerous book stores, art galleries, and museums. A great way to spend a day.
Gorgeous downtown Ferndale is Humboldt County's most filmed area, having served as the set for a number of major studio motion pictures. It features one of America's most authentic 19th century shopping districts with Victorian architecture, boutiques, bakeries, delicatessens, ice cream shops, theaters, butchers, barber shops, and confectionaries.
The Arcata Plaza offers a variety of stores, restaurants, bars and businesses. On the Plaza, the Farmer's Market offers fresh local products every Saturday, 9am to 1pm, April through October.
